District 10 Honors Orchestras (DHO) for 2011-2012 Junior and Senior Audition Music The time to start learning your music is NOW!
Junior DHO Audition Music Organized by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA)
Students audition for placement in the District 10 Honors Orchestra. Auditions take place November 15, 2011. Performance (for those selected) is usually directly after the December holiday. This current school year students auditioned twice: once for selection into DHO and a second time for a seat placement. If a student is selected for DHO, he or she will spend several days practicing with the DHO and then will perform in the DHO concert.
Who can audition? Incoming 7th grade and rising 8th grade students at Carl Sandburg. Also, 9th grade students in District 10 may audition. (Every year students in 7th and 8th grade are encouraged to audition for District Honors Orchestra.)
Students should start practicing this summer so that they are comfortable with the audition scales and excerpt. Concert orchestra students who would like to participate may do so. Symphonic orchestra students are encouraged to start learning the music this summer.
Senior DHO Audition Music For rising 9th grade students leaving the Carl Sandburg Orchestra family. You have the option of auditioning for junior or senior music next year. If you decide to audition for Senior District Honors Orchestra, remember you are competing against older high school students. It is recommended that you be very comfortable playing this audition music if you choose to audition for senior districts in your 9th grade year. Start practicing now! Auditions are Tuesday, 16 November 2010.
