Rehearsal Expectations and Procedures

The primary goal of the orchestra is to work together to produce a superior performing
ensemble. My personal goal is to provide each student with a comprehensive instrumental
music education by teaching the skills and attitudes needed to succeed as a musician and
young adult. These skills include building a strong work ethic, discipline, and a commitment
to excellence.

Music Rehearsal Procedures
* Tuning will commence two minutes after the bell. Students should be in their seats with
music, instruments, their notebook and a PENCIL.

*All books and backpacks are to be placed under chairs during rehearsal.

*Announcements and rehearsal order will be posted on the board prior to rehearsal.

*Adequate warm-up time will always be given. Rehearsal begins when the Director/principal
player steps on the podium.

*To receive credit for your daily participation grade, all students must have their instrument,
music folder, a pencil, and any other material needed for rehearsal.

* If your section is not playing please respect the others’ time by sitting quietly. Take this
time to look over fingerings for tricky passages in your own parts.

* We will have sectionals periodically for sharing bowings, fingerings, and working isolated
passages. Section leaders or guest clinicians should be given the same respect as you
would any teacher.

*Rehearsal will end a few minutes before the bell to give you ample time to pack up. Be
respectful and pack up when you are dismissed.

* RESPECTFUL *
* RESPONSIBLE *
* READY*
