Note to Carl Sandburg Orchestra students: A note about buying instruments from non
reputable sources: Buying instruments from stores in which stringed instruments are not
there specialty is risky. Especially be weary of a great deal on an Internet website or
auction. Generally these instruments are not set up well and are made from poor quality
materials. You will spend much more in the long run having to get repairs done-go to a
reputable source first. A good guideline: if the store also sells paper towels for example - it
is probably not a good place to buy an instrument. Auction sites are also to be avoided, as
you need to be able to play the instrument and have it inspected by a professional before
making any instrument purchase. The online stores listed in the above section have some
